Did you know…
That Prussian blue pigment was manufactured in the eighteenth century? It was formed accidentally by color maker Diesbach of Berlin when he was experimenting with the oxidation of iron around 1704. Artists were using the blue pigment by 1724. So, if you find this pigment on a painting from an earlier date, the painting may be later than you think or the blue may be restoration.
