Bowl with Figural and Geometric Pattern

Description: This bowl is an example of minai type H-ware. This ware became popular in the 12th century. It is an enameled ceramic, polychrome on white background, which often displays scenes from legends or human and animal figures. The ceramic was produced by a double-firing process to set the varnish over the enamel. This bowl displays five rows of female figures, coordinated in pairs with a medallion between each of them.
